Completed in 2004, this 3,000 square foot veranda is part of an upscale restaurant situated in the Motley Rice building along the banks of the Cooper River in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. It offers sweeping panorama of the Ravenel Bridge and the Charleston Harbor. The vaulted aluminum frame and canvas cladding helps reduce the scale of the veranda while providing ample shade for patrons enjoying the view. The exposed steel structure spans 30 feet and the seven frames cover a width of 90 feet along the face of the building. A similar steel and canvas vault provides shelter and shade over the entrance to the building on the street side.
